The Living Room Tour - Day 4 - Arlington
I stopped about half way between Texarkana and Dallas to get some kolaches. Why don’t we have those in Kansas? It rained for a good portion of the drive, and poured extra hard when I stopped for gas. The only pair of shoes I have with me are my boots and they both have holes in them. My socks were soggy all afternoon. Tonight was the first date of the tour with two shows in the same night....

The Living Room Tour - Day 3 - Texarkana
Haley invited me to her church outside of Fort Smith this morning and after the service we had lunch at Panera with a few of her friends. This tour is different from a regular full band in so many ways, but I am thankful for the independence to make my own schedule and have enough extra time to actually talk to the people that support my band. We are usually rushing to the next town or just have...

The Living Room Tour - Day 2 -Fort Smith
Sean treated me to breakfast at an old hotel/diner in downtown Springfield called Gailey’s this morning. I had pumpkin walnut waffles with cinnamon butter with some bacon and eggs. We talked about music and business, love and love lost. Somehow I managed to turn my three-hour drive to Fort Smith into a six-hour journey. The settings on my GPS were changed to the shortest route, rather than the...

The Living Room Tour - Day 1 - Springfield
Tonight was more about good friends and good food than the show, and I didn’t mind it one bit. There are some perks to a solo acoustic tour, and one of those is being able to actually hang out with local friends before and after the show without having to worry about sound checks and setting up an entire back line of instruments. Craig, Sean, and I headed straight to the Springfield Brewing...

Bon Voyage
Last Tuesday I posted a blog asking if anyone would be come out to or host a show if I did another acoustic tour. It’s been two years since the last one I did, and the idea of playing free house shows is sort of out of the box, so I wasn’t sure how people would respond this time around. Now it’s Wednesday, and eight days later I have some rad hand-drawn tour posters with 40 shows...

The Living Room Tour II
Here’s the routing for The Living Room Tour II. Many of these dates are already spoken for, but I am not opposed to playing multiple shows in the same night. If you can’t host a show, then be on the look out for show information and facebook events so you can join the...

Growing Pains Pt. 2
In my first post on growing pains I described growth in the spiritual realm compared to growth in the physical world. We talked about the challenges of growth being gradual and nearly impossible to see, unless we test it. We find out how tall we are when life brings us the same roller coaster ride it did the year before. The fruit of the spirit are not traits that are automatically assigned to us...
